“Love is for dumbs” I heard someone said. The truth is, true love is about giving and not about receiving, and there is nothing dumb about that, actually in loving, we show the true character of the Father.
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” I John 4:7-11 NKJV
If we seek demonstrations of love through the word of God, we see from the very beginning that God gave Eva to Adan as a gift, so he wouldn’t be alone. And that was an act of love. She was meant to be an extension of the love of God for Adan. Perhaps this is why, we as women, usually tend to charity and works of compassion. We are givers of love. Love to our spouses, to our kids, to our neighbors.
The truth is, when true love is given from God, we just want to give. To give ourselves for the sake of our couple and to others, to give our own lives so they can be happier and conquer all things God has set upon their lives to govern for His Kingdom. That can only come from the God of creation (love usually gets confused with a selfish desire for having something or somebody, but that will hardly last)
Listen, Eva purpose back in Eden was to fill with joy Adan’s life and be his suitable helper, so he can rejoice while he was doing his work for God on Earth (Gen 2.18). She was so filled by the love of God, that everything she needed was to give, to be a present. And that is still truth on these days, if it’s true love what bonds you to your couple, you are the chosen vessel of God to pour out His love for him.
There is nothing foolish on loving and giving yourself for the sake of others, in that we show that we are free from an orphan spirit and we are confident to know we have a lot to give, and we are not afraid to do it because we know who supports us in all our works of giving.
There is only one thing true love demands, as per scriptures shows in God relationship with his people - the lack of it made God very jealous and mad at the point of allowing repression for His loving Israel, several times - it is FAITHFULNESS.
The only thing true love demands is the commitment to be faithful, in order to grow and bear fruit without set backs.

My friend, there is nothing dumb about loving with the true love of God. If God abides in you, then love and give as He does...
“What actually took place is this: I tried keeping rules and working my head off to please God, and it didn’t work. So I quit being a “law man” so that I could be God’s man. Christ’s life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central.
