“Then the Lord asked me, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” “Figs,” I answered. “The good ones are very good, but the bad ones are so bad they cannot be eaten.”” Jeremiah 24:3 NIV
God is checking and picking figs at this very hour. He is separating the good from the bad ones, and putting them in two baskets.
Those figs are each one of us. The same God that told Jeremiah to warn his people during their exile from Jerusalem to Babylon, is speaking to us today, and we better listen.
Perhaps you are thinking, “this is not for me” I’m a minister of God. Or no way, I’m a good person and a good citizen. But is God the one setting the bar here and His bar is not the same as ours. There are only two baskets “Good figs” and “Bad figs”. No middle terms (Matthew 12:30)
“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:15-16 NIV
Just to clarify, the previous words are from Jesus to His church, the same church that He loved and gave up His live for. But also the same Jesus that cursed a fig tree for non providing any fruit for Him when He needed them.
“The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.” Mark 11:12-14 NIV
if He searches us today, will He find any fruit? or Are we just waiting for the next season to come?
“The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.” Matthew 3:10 NIV
Eva sin was to love more being like God, than God. Are we loving more our ministry position than Him? obeying and loving all He loves at the point of even going down from our positions in an altar, just to wash the feet of His people on the ground? Because He loves them and cares deeply about them.
Perhaps not, and maybe that’s the reason why God is allowing His Temple hill to become a mound overgrown with thickets (Jer 26:18).

“Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.” John 13:3-5 NIV
It is required to be rooted in our true eternal identity in God, knowing by first hand where we come from and where we are heading to as per His personal and collective plan for us. And not only in the things we are working for Him right now, because we might loose our sight.
Obedience is the rightful measure of love, not our titles. Jesus priority was his obedience to the Father. And the Father loves our neighbor (Luke 6:36)
“Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”” Matthew 22:37-40 NIV
“Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”” John 14:21 NIV
We need to let Him search us, in an intimate and personal way, so we can be found approved by Him, part of His good figs basket...
“For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.” Romans 8:19-21 NIV
