'Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. ' John 14:27 NIV (emphasis added)

The word "peace" here, in the original is the greek "eirḗnēn" from eirō, "to join, tie together into a whole" – properly, wholeness, i.e. when all essential parts are joined together. And the word "world", in the original is the greek kósmos (literally, "something ordered") – properly, an "ordered system" (like the universe, creation).

How is the cosmos system ordered? Well, the universe is four-dimensional—three for space, one for time. Although some cosmologists states that the universe has nine, or ten or eleven dimensions. But in all those cases, the time is only one dimension. And the time we are referring to, is chrónos - especially viewed in sequence (a "succession of moments"); time in duration in the physical-space world.

Therefore, the peace that the world gives is limited to space and time dimensions, and time in a sequence mode.

"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." Revelation 22:13 NIV

When Jesus says He is the Alpha and the Omega, He is referring to the first and the last words of the greek alphabet. So He means, I'm breaking the normal sequence of time.

If we go back to the first definition of peace "to join, tie together into a whole", what it means is that the peace given by Jesus, is from the one that was at the beginning, is at the present era - when He walked among us and today through the Holly Spirit - and will be at the end, all this tied together. And that's definitely another level of peace.

Going back to our first story, Jesus continued saying to his disciples "Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid". And of course! that's the key! If I, at the best Dr. Emmett style, take you in a DeLorean back to your future, and you see that everything is going to be ok. Would you be so worried today? Probably not...

'He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. ' Matthew 16:2-3 NIV (emphasis added)

Now, If we are good with universe timing, we are still falling short. There are two types of timing, and the second is the one referred here, the greek word kairós – time as opportunity ("opportune time") is derived from kara ("head") referring to things "coming to a head" to take full-advantage of. is "the suitable time, the right moment, a favorable moment".

Some refer kairós as God timing. In the overall plan of salvation God has proper timing for everything, and that involves our own lives. God open doors of opportunity that we need to acknowledge and take advantage of. Those are heavenly moments in a heavenly timing from a heavenly kingdom.

'The time (kairós) has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” ' Mark 1:15 NIV (emphasis added)

We are all part of God's plan, He created us for a greater purpose, and I strongly believe that if we seek intentionally to interpret the signs of the times and ask Him what role do we play in all this? What does He want from us in this particular time in history?, He will answer. And not only for the sake of this world (chrónos), but also for the sake of His kingdom (kairós).

Only then we can have the peace that comes from the Alpha and the Omega, knowing that our lives, so fragile as we now know they are, are really helpful and meaningful, and that we are investing effectively our time. Not only for this era, but also for the one to come...
